How Our Tutoring Approach Gets Superior Results

The MasterMind Method is a unique process that governs each student's tutoring program at MasterMind Prep. It is based on high-performance, research-based methods that accelerate learning faster than conventional tutors or tutoring services:

1. Assess for needs.

We start by finding out what students know and don’t know with the MasterMind Skills Assessment (a combination of nationally respected diagnostic tests), which precisely measures individual strengths and weaknesses

2. Set personal goals.

Based on pre-testing, students are assigned specific learning goals and placed in a curriculum sequence where they can succeed and advance quickly in private tutoring or small tutoring groups with similar ability levels.

3. Teach to mastery.

Qualified, caring tutors use explicit, research-based methods to present concepts step-by-step in clear, explicit language so students understand easily. Students must show 90% mastery before moving ahead or we teach again.

4. Immediate correction/reward.

Tutors are trained to immediately correct errors in a positive way and to build confidence with encouragement and points that are redeemed for rewards.

5. Practice to fluency.

Like great athletes and musicians, we use timed exercises to practice new skills, build automatic recall and endurance.

6. Measure progress.

After each lesson, students draw their progress on a graphic chart and tutors monitor progress to determine whether instruction should adjusted.
